Chakra #3--Power

The Third "Chakra" is located approximately at the navel.  It is referred to as the "Hara" in Japanese, and the "Tan Tien" in Chinese, considered the center of physical power and grace.  Together with the first two, they make up the "Belly Brain", the seat of instinctive kinesthetics. It also relates to the sense of power in the world--the extension of influence over your domain.  Let's not lie to ourselves: everyone wants power, even if it's just the amount necessary to raise our kids in our way without interference, "our home is our castle." Power gets a bad rap when people try to extend it over others.  But then, I've never met anyone who didn't do that, either.  Either directly or indirectly, we all want control.  We all want to feel safe.  Threaten someone's roof or food supply, and an angry animal emerges from a saint.  Threated the supply of sex, and most folks get mighty testy.  Block someone's access to job promotion, and you get a back-stabbing response.  It is vital to peer into your own tendencies in these arenas.  What makes you angry?  Where are you manipulable?  Where and how do you try to manipulate others?

Movies like "Wall Street" capitalize (pun intentional) on the universal quest for power and security.  In it, Charlie Sheen is torn between two father figures (heart chakra) in the quest to express himself (throat chakra) in the arena of power (belly brain).  Sex, intellect and power all mingle in confusion.  The final act is resolved in the arena of heart.  See it.
